Thank you so much to everyone who has bought my latest book, Sentenced to the Punishment Clinic. For the first time ever, in almost four years of having my writing published, I have finally made a coveted #1 spot, in the science fiction erotica category on Amazon.com. I have never achieved even top ten in a category before, so for the last few days I have been basking in the glory of attaining this. Now, I’m also in top ten of BDSM, which is another first for me.
For all the new authors out there who think they’ll never achieve such success, that’s how I felt when I first had a book published. The editing process can sometimes be hard, and it’s soul-destroying to see your work criticised by an editor and having huge chunks of your writing deleted, but I’ve tried to learn everything I can over the past four years and I can see a definite improvement. I lost so much writing time, wallowing in self pity and believing I wasn’t good enough, instead of simply seeing these setbacks as opportunities to become better. I am still learning with every book I write, and if I’d known this would be the reward for my hard work, I would have knuckled down even harder and not thrown so many tantrums when I received bad feedback from editors, or massive rewrites on a piece of work, and also negative reviews from readers.
Thank you once again to every single person who has bought my book and helped me to achieve such success, and thank you to James Johnson of Stormy Night Publications for working with me on this book, and Korey Mae Johnson for creating such a fantastic cover.
At the time of writing, I am ranked at 1,385 overall on Amazon.com (my last book reached 6,090, which I was delighted with), 8 on BDSM, and NUMBER ONE on science fiction erotica!!! I keep pinching myself to make sure I’m not dreaming! Other authors seem to have the #1 regularly against their books, but this is a first for me and I’m currently floating high above cloud nine. I hope this is the first of many, but if not I’m pleased to have had the thrill of seeing my book top a sub-category on Amazon.com, even if it doesn’t turn out to be for very long. The fabulously talented Emily Tilton held me off for the last couple of days, but I’m delighted that she’s allowed me to borrow her crown, even if only for a short time.
I hope you’ve had a great weekend. Mine has been fantastic for obvious reasons. As it’s only 9.35am in the UK, and I have a mountain of unwrapped Christmas gifts filling the settee, I’m going to break the habit of a lifetime and make a start on them, rather than leaving it all to Christmas Eve, then becoming stressed when I still have stuff to wrap on Christmas morning.
